About NexusPilot

We build AI compliance software for regulated UK industries — starting with property tax.

Our mission

NexusPilot exists to bring AI to UK regulatory complexity. Tax, financial, and industry-specific rules in the UK are dense, change often, and reward attention to detail. We build tools that capture that detail in software so professionals and small businesses can spend their time on the work that matters — not on reconciling bank statements at 11pm before a deadline.

Our first product, LandlordTaxAi, is a Making Tax Digital autopilot for UK landlords. It is the prototype of how we think compliance software should feel: precise, transparent, and confident enough to do the boring work, with the user in control of every submission.

Why we exist

From April 2026, the first wave of Making Tax Digital for Income Tax begins. Landlords with combined property and self-employment income above £50,000 must submit quarterly digital updates to HMRC. The threshold drops to £30,000 in April 2027, and a further reduction to £20,000 by 2028 is on the books. Together that brings more than one million UK landlords into the MTD net.

Most of them currently file once a year. They rely on spreadsheets, a shoebox of receipts, or an annual visit to an accountant. Quarterly digital filing is a step change. The existing software market is split between heavyweight accounting suites built for businesses and lightweight expense apps that do not understand UK property rules. Neither is built for a landlord with two flats and an income spreadsheet.

We started LandlordTaxAi to fill that gap.

What makes us different

A few things set us apart from generic SaaS dropped into the UK market:

  • UK-first. Every rule, every category, every default is built around HMRC SA105 and current UK case law — not a US tax engine reskinned with a Union Jack.
  • gov.uk-cited. Where the AI makes a categorisation, the underlying gov.uk citation is shown in the product. You can audit any decision back to its source.
  • AI confidence-scored. Every transaction carries a 0–100% confidence score. Anything ambiguous is flagged for review, never silently accepted.
  • Conservative defaults. When uncertain, we treat an expense as non-deductible. We would rather you reclaim a missed deduction than face an HMRC enquiry over an aggressive one.
  • Explicit approval before HMRC. No background submissions. Nothing reaches HMRC until you press the button and confirm.

The team

NexusPilot is a small UK-focused team building specifically for HMRC compliance — not a US generic SaaS retrofit. We work in plain UK English, with a bias for clarity over jargon, and a strong distaste for dark patterns.

We talk to landlords, accountants, and HMRC documentation. We read the legislation. We write the software. That is the entire loop.

Our values

  • Transparency. Pricing is on the page. Every AI decision shows its source. No hidden tiers or surprise fees.
  • No dark patterns. Cancellation is one click. We do not ship growth-hack tricks that chip away at user trust.
  • Your data stays in the EU. Database, file storage, and authentication all sit in EU regions. Only anonymised transaction descriptions are sent to AI providers, under the UK-US Data Bridge.
  • Explicit approval before HMRC submissions. No background filing. The user presses the button, every time.
  • Plain UK English. Recognised, not recognized. We write the way our customers read.

What is next

LandlordTaxAi is our first compliance product, not our last. The same engine — citation-backed AI, confidence-scored decisions, conservative defaults — applies to other UK regulated workflows. We are exploring small-business VAT, PAYE, and FCA reporting tools next.

If you have a UK compliance workflow that feels like it should already be a well-built piece of software, we would like to hear about it.
